Cleaners W9 Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Cleaners W9 in respect of our current financial year. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our own operations and in our supply chains. We recognise that the cleaning and facilities sector can be vulnerable to labour exploitation, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Cleaners W9 operates a strict zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, debt bondage and human trafficking. We do not condone or accept any practice that exploits people, undermines their dignity or violates their fundamental human rights. This commitment applies to everyone working for or on behalf of Cleaners W9, including employees, agency workers, contractors and suppliers.
All managers and those involved in hiring, procurement or supplier management are required to ensure that our zero-tolerance stance is clearly communicated and consistently enforced. Any breach of this policy is treated as a serious disciplinary matter and may result in termination of employment or commercial relationships.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Expectations
Our supply chains primarily include cleaning products, equipment, uniforms, facilities services and labour providers. We expect all suppliers to uphold the same high standards that we apply to our own operations and to comply with relevant labour, employment and human rights laws in the countries where they operate.
Suppliers are expected to ensure that workers are employed voluntarily, are of legal working age, and have freedom of movement and the right to leave their employment with reasonable notice. We require that wages, working hours, rest periods and benefits meet or exceed legal and industry standards and that no worker pays recruitment fees or surrenders identity documents as a condition of employment.
Supplier Audits and Verification
To support our zero-tolerance policy, Cleaners W9 is implementing a risk-based programme of supplier due diligence and audits. As part of our onboarding process, new suppliers are assessed on their labour practices, policies and transparency. We request information about their workforce, subcontracting practices and compliance with modern slavery legislation.
For higher-risk categories, we reserve the right to conduct site visits or request independent third-party audits. Where non-compliance or potential indicators of modern slavery are identified, we work with the supplier on corrective action plans with clear timescales. If satisfactory improvement is not achieved, we may suspend or terminate the relationship. We keep records of our assessments and use them to inform future sourcing decisions.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Cleaners W9 encourages everyone, both within and outside our organisation, to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery linked to our business or supply chains. We maintain internal reporting channels that enable employees and workers to raise issues confidentially and without fear of retaliation.
Concerns can be raised with line managers, senior management or through our designated whistleblowing procedures. Reports will be taken seriously, investigated promptly and handled sensitively. Where appropriate, we will engage with relevant authorities and support any affected individuals. Retaliation against anyone who raises a genuine concern is strictly prohibited and will itself be treated as a disciplinary matter.
Training, Awareness and Responsibilities
Responsibility for our modern slavery programme rests with senior management, who oversee policy implementation and review. Operational managers are responsible for ensuring that day-to-day practices, recruitment and supplier relationships align with this statement.
We provide guidance and awareness for staff involved in recruitment, procurement, contract management and supervision of workers. This includes recognising signs of exploitation, understanding reporting routes, and knowing how to respond if modern slavery is suspected. We aim to build a culture where respect for human rights is integrated into routine business decisions.
Monitoring, Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
Cleaners W9 is committed to continually improving our approach to preventing modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures through supplier assessments, incident reports, staff feedback and changes in legal or best practice guidance.
This statement is reviewed at least annually by our leadership team. As part of the annual review, we assess progress against our objectives, update our risk assessment, and refine our procedures, including supplier audits and reporting mechanisms. Where necessary, we amend our policies and practices to strengthen prevention, detection and response to modern slavery risks.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Cleaners W9 and reflects our ongoing commitment to ethical business conduct and the protection of vulnerable workers in our operations and supply chains.
